What Harley Quinn, Deadpool & Donald Trump Have In Common
EDITOR’s NOTE: This feature was originally published in October 2016, before the first Presidential debate in the United States Presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. In light of Harley Quinn’s 25th anniversary, we’ve republished the story. 2016 has seen the unlikely, meteoric rise of characters — quite similar characters — that were considered relatively fringe years ago. You’ve got Harley Quinn — created in the early-’90s — who’s been dubbed by Jim Lee as the “fourth pillar” of DC Comics. Meaning, DC Comics now considers Harley to be the fourth most important character in its publishing line, after Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman — thanks in no small part to Margot Robbie’s popular portrayal in “Suicide Squad,” and the recent work of comics creators including Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. You’ve also got Deadpool — created in the early ’90s &

Aquaman’s Comic Is Basically Subtweeting Trump’s Presidency
The following article contains spoilers for recent issues of Aquaman, by Dan Abnett and Stjepan Sejic. Turn on your local or national news on any given day, and you’re almost guaranteed to find a news anchor quoting President Donald Trump, video of his latest news conference, or reactions to his latest Twitter rant. Life during the Trump administration has been… interesting, to say the least. Of course, this makes it ripe for creators to use as an influence when crafting new stories. One of the more controversial and, frankly, unintended examples of this happened when Captain America uttered the words “Hail Hydra” and pledged his allegiance to the fascist regime in the lead-up to Marvel’s summer blockbuster Secret Empire. While that shocking development made its way into the larger news cycle, a more subtle — yet still significant – adaption of Trump’s reign began to take place over the summer in the pages of DC Comics’ Aquaman,

New Autobot Action Figure Features a Pro-Trump Message
One Transformers fan got a nasty surprise earlier this week after some Cybertronian text on the side of a Power of the Primes Jazz action figure was translated. The message embedded on the Autobot’s door for all to see? Four letters: “MAGA.” Yes, that’s the shorthand for “Make America Great Again,” the 2016 campaign slogan of current United States President Donald Trump. According to io9, the mystery began when Twitter user @chrisrtxv posted a tweet complaining about the tiny text printed on the Autobot’s side. WHY Why do you put Cybertronic text on here so small it can't even render clearly? The only letter I can clearly make out is A. pic.twitter.com/jzu4toOHIb — Chris (@chrisrtxv) November 17, 2017 Another Twitter user, @TheLastGherkin, translated the writing to the best of his ability. I better be wrong about this pic.twitter.com/ePWyvumRQy — Gherkin 🥒 (@TheLastGherkin) November 17, 2017 RELATED: Bumb

Editorial Cartoonist Fired Following Rejected Trump Cartoons
Rob Rogers, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette editorial cartoonist, has announced that, after a weeks-long conflict with his editors regarding unpublished anti-Trump cartoons, he has been fired from the paper. Sad to report this update: Today, after 25 years as the editorial cartoonist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, I was fired. — Rob Rogers (@Rob_Rogers) June 14, 2018 According to TribLive, the issue began when six of Rogers’ cartoons were held back in late May and early June, after which he went on extended leave from the Post-Gazette’s editorial page. When his case was looked over by the Columbia Journalism Review, they found that 19 of Rogers’ cartoons or pre-publication ideas had been either left unpublished or were refused publication. Among the cartoons were several that Rogers has published on his Twitter feed, one depicting President Trump giving North Korea’s Kim Jong Un accolades from on top of a pile of skulls. Thi
