Top 10 Best Anime Sidekicks

The world of anime is filled with awesome heroes and adventures. But a hero isn't complete without a sidekick or friends to back them up in a time of need.

So for this list, we're looking at characters who offer various forms of support for the lead characters of a series, who watch their backs, look up to them and learn from them in some way or another.

Here goes to the Top 10 Best Anime Sidekicks:

10. Radical Edward From Cowboy Bebop

Almost nothing is known about Edward's past except that she was born on January 1, 2058 on Earth and that she spent the first years of her childhood in an orphanage.

She makes her debut in the crew when she was discovered hacking a satellite. In exchange for her help she gets Faye to promise to make her a member of the crew. Although they try to not keep their word, Edward manages to get what she wants by taking control of the Bebop through her computer, forcing the crew to take her on board in order to leave.

Although her only assistance is hacking different things for the crew, she's still an awesome sidekick.

9. Speedwagon From JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Speedwagon is a hot-blooded and honorable street thug and later businessman. Despite his timid nature he is depicted as a friend and ally to the Joestar Family and has continued to support them later in the series via his organization, the Speedwagon Foundation.

Apart from that, he is an extremely hot-blooded and enthusiastic man. But never hesitates to be by Jonathan's side.

8. Kon From Bleach

Kon typically appears as a stuffed lion, but occasionally doubles as a Soul Candy pill for Ichigo Kurosaki, taking charge of Ichigo's human body. Kon is quite...well perverted, let's just say he overuses his stuffed lion form to get girls.

When aiding Ichigo in his various battles, he has proven to be able to achieve all the potential combat abilities of whoever's living body he inhabits, he was also designed to have exceptionally powerful leg strength. Thus making him very useful and a great sidekick to count on.

7. Ragnarok From Soul Eater

Now I could of chosen Soul for number 7, but I feel as if Ragnarok never gets as much spotlight as he should. Maybe it's because he's a bad guy in the beginning, I don't know but I absolutely adore him.

He's funny and cute when people underestimate him. He is the Demon Sword, partner of Crona, and a reoccurring antagonist throughout the anime.

Ragnarok is loud-mouthed, rude, and confident. He believes he and his meister are capable of overcoming any opponent, regardless of how good or bad they actually are at fighting.

What makes him so cool is his ability or power to harden Crona's blood to make spikes form on the ground, or to transform himself into a Demon Sword.

6. Krillin From Dragon Ball

Krillin is a supporting protagonist in the Dragon Ball series. Him and Goku had a bit of a rivalry when it came to training, but sooner enough they quickly became lifelong best friends.

He's also one of the most powerful and talented human martial artists on Earth. Krillin is courageous, a faithful ally and good-natured. Although he is not as strong as Goku or Gohan, his determination in helping his friends is a key asset.

5. Tony Tony Chopper From One Piece

Tony Tony Chopper is the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper is a reindeer that ate a Devil Fruit called the Hito Hito no Mi, this gave him the ability to transform into a human-reindeer hybrid. From this he gains human intelligence and much more.

He came from Drum Island, which makes him the only member of the Straw Hat Pirates who was born on the Grand Line.

Chopper is naïve and extremely timid towards unfamiliar humans, often acting like a child because he does not know any better. But he's an upright friend and companion who will try anything to overcome a task given by his team.

4. Armin Arlert From Attack on Titan

Armin is a childhood friend of Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman. Although in the beginning of the anime he's seen as a weak and cowardly character, as he grows up and begins to face the horror of what the Titans can do and how it's affected him and others.

He begins to mature and develop a sense of bravery. He feels as if he must not only protect the people inside the walls, but his friends outside of them as well.

Armin will put his life into deadly situations in order to protect his friends without hesitation, and that's what I love about him the most.

3. Seras Victoria From Hellsing

Seras is on of the main protagonist in the Hellsing series. She was turned into a vampire by Alucard to save her from a what would have been fatal gunshot wound in the chest that he also caused. This gives her various powers such as immortality and clairvoyance.

She is often considered a tomboy; a very brave, strong and heroic young woman who is not afraid to question the orders of her master. Little is known about her past except for the various flashbacks she has in the anime.

However despite her rigid past she fights along side Alucard and serves as an awesome companion with a huge firearm.

2. Pikachu From Pokemon

Now who wouldn't want this little guy as a sidekick? I mean Ash is pretty lucky to have Pikachu to fight alongside with. Yeah there's the occasional electrocuting Ash type deal, but still he's cute and awesome.

Pikachu was given to Ash as his first Pokemon from Professor Oak. At first Pikachu didn't like ash and during batting he would often ignore him. But as time goes on they've grown to like each other and are now awesome companions.

He's curious, smart, friendly, and shares the same passion for battling as Ash does. Anyone would love to have this little fur ball of happiness which is why Pikachu is the number one pick.

1. Alphonse Elric From Fullmetal Alchemist

Alphonse is the younger brother of Edward Elric, Al is also a victim of the failed Human Transmutation experiment in which Ed lost his right arm and left leg.

Having had his entire physical being taken away from him in the aftermath of the tragedy, Alphonse exists solely as a soul alchemically bound to a large suit of steel armor.

Henceforth his appearance as a huge cool looking steel robot guy. He's a kindhearted and a great brother to Edward. He's also very protective when it comes to defending the ones he cares about. Which makes him a great sidekick.
