One of the finer things about anime is that you can do a lot of great and terrible things with beards. You can make them defy logic and even gravity, turning them into something you couldn’t find anywhere in this universe. If you are an aficionado of impressive facial hair in anime, then look no further.

When you have, what? Thousands of years to cultivate a beard? That there beard better end up being the coolest “down to you legs” beard you can possibly grown. The rest of the Shinigami’s are slacking by comparison.

Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

Some might say the most noticeable thing about Jet is the fact that he is missing an arm. However, the by far more interesting bit about him is everything going on in that there facial area. Not only does he has a nice eye scar and metal plate accent, but his chin whiskers are perfectly perky, at least on the side.

Once you get past your prime, there are only two things to do – leave the adventuring to the young’uns and take the time to grow out your beard. Joseph Joestar did one of those things at least.

What I like most about this beard, is you get to watch it progress from a wee young man’s beard to a full on gray bush that is accented by the wrinkles of age and constant silly face expressions. We should all aspire to Netero beard standards when we are old and gray.

Can you imagine how long it takes to get three perfectly straight lines of beard hair? Without fucking it up and starting over? Impossible! Too bad this beard is ruined by the rest of his face.

There is Whitebeard and his finely shaped mustache, Blackbeard and his chin curls of a boy that just hit puberty, then there is the vastly underestimated Brownbeard. He may suck in other respects, but his beard is glorious.
