Stan Lee Auctioning Items for Hurricane Irma Relief

Earlier this month, Hurricane Irma dealt a big blow to Florida after it left a path of devastation in its wake. Now, AP reports legendary comic book writer Stan Lee will auction off some of the artwork from his personal collection to help aid those affected by the natural disaster.

At this weekend’s MegaCon Tampa Bay, the man behind such icons like Spider-Man, Daredevil and Iron Man will auction off a one-on-one dining experience and “artwork from his personal collection” during his panel on Friday. For Lee, getting the chance to help those that need it following the destruction of Irma — which impacted both the Caribbean as well as the Sunshine state — is something he’s glad to do.

“I feel there’s something everybody has to do to help the victims of the weather, of the hurricane,” Lee said. “And if I can do my part by auctioning some stuff off, I’m more than happy to do it.”

Andrew Moyes, the organizer behind MegaCon Tampa Bay, also revealed that the convention will donate $5 from each of the 2,000 tickets sold online to Feeding Florida, a network of food banks that operates throughout the state and provides meals and emergency supplies to those that need it most following Irma’s destruction. When all is said and done, Moyes is estimating that donations should reach around $20,000.
