News Live-Action Ajin Tops Box Office With 272 Million Yen
Live-action Asahinagu falls to #6, 5th Digimon Adventure tri. film tops mini-theater rankings







Ajin, the live-action film based on Gamon Sakurai's Ajin - Demi-Human manga, earned 271,612,100 yen (about US$2.40 million) and sold 210,000 tickets over 341 screens in its opening weekend. The film is expected to earn 1.5 billion yen (about US$13 million). The film opened in Japan on September 30, and Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass, Space Travelers, Bayside Shakedown) directed the film. Takeru Satoh and Gou Ayano star in the film.







The live-action film adaptation of Ai Kozaki's Asahinagu sports manga fell from #2 to #6, earning 53,163,300 yen (about US$470,118) in its second weekend. The film has grossed a total of 300,297,600 yen (about US$2.65 million). The film opened on September 22. Tsutomu Hanabusa directed the film, and it stars members of the Nogizaka46 idol group.







Digimon Adventure tri. Kyōsei (Union or Symbiosis), the fifth film in the Digimon Adventure tri. film project, opened on September 30 and topped the mini-theater rankings for the weekend. The film also became available for streaming in Japan through the PLAYSTATION Network on the same day the movie opened.

The Haikyu!! Concept no Tatakai compilation film opened on September 29 and ranked #2 in the mini-theater rankings for the weekend. The film is the second of two new compilation films for the television anime series; the first opened on September 15 and topped the mini-theater rankings.

Gekijōban Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Sekka no Chikai (Movie Version Fate/kaleid liner Prisma ☆ Illya: Oath Under the Snow), the new anime film in the Prisma Illya franchise, fell from #2 to #3 on the mini-theater rankings in its sixth weekend.
