Millar Plans to Reboot Kick-Ass Again – In Five Years

Following the announcement that Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s Kick-Ass would return with a new character taking up the mantle, Millar has revealed that he intends to reboot Kick-Ass again in five years’ time.

“Kick-Ass was always a legacy character for me,” he explained to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s like Doctor Who or The Flash or Green Lantern or James Bond in that it should be rebooted every once in a while with a new face. The same thing should happen again in five years.”

The return of Kick-Ass will see Patience Lee, a black female army vet in her early 30s, take over the mantle of Kick-Ass. The mother of two young kids, Patience comes home from Afghanistan to find her life completely different from the way it was before she was deployed. The central location has also shifted from New York to New Mexico. Millar has said previously that, though the dynamic of the book will be different this time around, the flavor will remain the same.

Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s Kick-Ass #1 will go on sale February 24, marking the 10-year anniversary of the series.
