Marvel Comics today announced a new 10-part Uncanny X-Men story arc titled X-Men: Disassembled. The arc will bring together nearly all the remaining mutants left on Earth for a story that could “very well be the X-Men’s final mission.”

Word of the Uncanny X-Men line’s resurrection came at Comic-Con International in San Diego this year at Marvel Comics’ annual panel. It was announced that the series would return in November after ending several years ago after a 545-issue run. A creative team for the series was not announced.

Today, Marvel has announced that creative team, which includes creators well versed in all things X-related. Uncanny X-Men will be penned by Ed Brisson (Extermination), Kelly Thompson (Mr. & Mrs. X) and Matthew Rosenberg (The Punisher, Phoenix Resurrection). The trio of writers will be joined by artists Mahmud Asrar (X-Men Red), R.B. Silva (X-Men Blue), Yildiray Cinar (Weapon X) and Pere Pérez (Rogue and Gambit)

The revived Uncanny X-Men will kick off with the X-Men: Disassembled story, which, according to a press release, “brings together nearly every mutant left on earth in a story that threatens to destroy them.” The arc will be “an epic tale of mystery and tragic disappearance, with an adventure so earth-shattering, it could very well be the X-Men’s final mission.” The press release goes on to tease that not all the mutants who appear in the arc will make it out alive for Uncanny X-Men proper.

Uncanny X-Men #1 goes on sale this November.
