Japan was one of my country's oppressors. I feel odd whenever I see works in this setting, specially those where Japan is the one being oppressed. No offense meant but I feel like wars are pointless somehow. I have no grudge against the oppressors' race now since it happened generations ago. It just makes me sad that the current generation there doesn't know. Nonetheless, this is a great story.
