The December issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine is revealing on Thursday that Yasunori Mitsunaga's Princess Resurrection (Kaibutsu Oujo) manga is getting a new series in the manga's next issue on November 25. The new series' tentative title remains the same as the previous manga.
The magazine also reveals that the manga has one million copies in print.
Del Rey published seven volumes the manga in North America, although it stopped publishing the series before Kodansha USA took over its titles. Del Rey described the manga:
Werewolves, demons, monsters, vampires. All these ferocious creatures are afraid of the same thing: the beautiful Princess Hime, an awesome warrior who fights off the forces off evil with a chainsaw and a smile. Not only does she look great in a tiara, she has magical powers that allow her to raise the dead. She's a girl on a mission, and with the help of her undead servant and a supercute robot, there's no creature of darkness she can't take down!
JManga released the first seven volumes on its website before closing in 2013. Kodansha Advanced Media is re-releasing the manga digitally, and published the 19th volume on Tuesday.
Princess Resurrection ran in Monthly Shonen Sirius from 2005 to 2013. Kodansha published 20 compiled book volumes for the series. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation and a three-episode OVA. Sentai Filmworks re-released the television anime version of Princess Resurrection with an English dub on DVD in 2012.
Mitsunaga launched his Avart manga in Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in 2015, and ended it this year. The manga's sixth and final volume is slated for November 9. He is also irregularly serializing his Hitsugi Tantei D&W manga, which launched in Young King Ours GH in 2011, though the latest volume shipped in 2014. He and Inomaru launched a new manga titled Tama Kick on June 16 in Shonengahosha's Young King Ours GH magazine, where it is currently running.
