Chang Confirms New Super-Man Cancellation With a Heartfelt Message

It turns out the Justice League of China’s “final mission” will also be its last. Artist Bernard Chang confirmed on Twitter that New-Superman and the Justice League of China #24 will be the final issue in the series. Chang had been providing variant covers on the title since the first issue.

Chang spoke about how “honored and proud” he was to be a part of this amazing two-year run. It was believed the title was close to being cancelled for awhile, and the solicitations for issue #24 mentioned that the team will “prepare for their final mission.” This simply confirms what we already knew.

Launched by writer Gene Luen Yang in 2016 under the name New Super-Man, the title went 19 issues before it was renamed New-Super-Man and the Justice League of China. Yang recently stated on Instagram that the title was originally supposed to end prior to the name change, but fan support convinced DC Comics to bring it back for several more issues.

Look what came in the mail yesterday! This was *supposed* to be the last New Super-Man trade paperback, but because of support from our amazing readers, there will be one more! 🙏🙏🙏

Yang noted that because of the support the book received from the fans, the title will now receive a fourth trade paperback by the time everything is said and done.
