Superman Makes an Entrance in Jim Lee, Scott Williams Justice League Variant

The (still-uncolored) variant cover for the seventh issue of the rebooted Justice League comic book series has been shared on Twitter by penciller Jim Lee and inker Scott Williams. The variant features the Man of Steel himself making a grand entrance by busting through a wall — a truly powerful image.

Justice League #7 has been teased as “wall-to-wall Justice League action” in its official synopsis. The installment will see Hawkgirl take the fight to Lex Luthor, John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps in a battle head-to-head with Sinestro, the Flash in a high-speed face-off with Gorilla Grodd, and Wonder Woman in a two-on-one handicap match against Black Manta and Cheetah.

However (interestingly enough), while this variant features Superman front-and-center, he actually goes unmentioned in the aforementioned synopsis, nor does he appear on the main cover.

Justice League #7 will be written by Scott Snyder with Mark Morales and Jim Cheung providing the interior art, as well as the main cover. And seeing how Snyder is still less than a fifth into his reported 50-issue run on the book, it will certainly be interesting to see how far the ramifications of issue #7’s high-octane battles will stretch.

DC Comics’ Justice League #7 will hit shelves on Sept. 5.
