Standalone version without micro-transactions will launch after service ends Square Enix announced last week that it is ending service for its Final Fantasy Legends II smartphone game on October 31. Sales of in-game "space-time stone" items were disabled on August 31. Square Enix plans to release a standalone version of the game with micro-transactions removed sometime after November. Square Enix stated that after the second part of the main story finished, it found it difficult to continue to maintain and deliver a product that would be to everyone's satisfaction, and arrived at the decision to end service due to that. The game originally launched under the title Final Fantasy Legends: Jikū no Suishō (Final Fantasy Legends: Crystal of Space-Time) in February 2015 as a sequel to the Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi (Final Fantasy Dimensions) game. Kadokawa's Dengeki Online website revealed last week that Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV game has sold an estimated 1,000,712 copies in Japan as of September 3. The number does not include digital download purchases. Final Fantasy XV went on sale worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last November. Square Enix is developing a Windows PC version of Final Fantasy XV, as well as a smartphone and PC game titled Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition. Tabata previously teased content for the Nintendo Switch earlier during the Gamescom 2017 event in August. Square Enix released the "Episode Prompto" story DLC for the game on June 27. The new story episode is the second in a series of story episodes focusing on each of the main characters of Final Fantasy XV. An episode focused on Ignis is slated for December. Character will be added in update later this month Square Enix announced with a video last Wednesday that it will add Final Fantasy VIII's Ultimecia as a playable character in its Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game. The character will be available after the game's September 14 update. The arcade game features a 3 vs. 3 battle system. The game also includes a summons gauge that players can use to summon Ifrit and other popular Final Fantasy summons when the gauge is full. KOEI Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) developed the game, which uses technology from a PlayStation 4 core system instead of a dedicated arcade circuit board. The game launched in Japanese arcades in November 2015. Square Enix will release the game on the PlayStation 4 under the title Dissidia Final Fantasy NT in North America on January 30, 2018.
