The official Facebook page for Adult Swim's Toonami block announced on Wednesday that it will begin airing Cowboy Bebop again beginning the night of September 9. The block will add an extra half hour of programming, so it will not replace any currently-airing shows, but it will bump Attack on Titan back to a later timeslot. The schedule from September 9 is as follows: 11:00 p.m. — Dragon Ball Super 11:30 p.m. – Dragon Ball Z Kai 12:00 a.m. – JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 12:30 a.m. – Tokyo Ghoul 1:00 a.m. – Hunter x Hunter 1:30 a.m. – Lupin the 3rd 2:00 a.m. – Naruto Shippūden 2:30 a.m. – Outlaw Star 3:00 a.m. – Cowboy Bebop 3:30 a.m. – Attack on Titan Season 2 Cowboy Bebop has run on Toonami several times since the block's revival in 2012, most recently in 2015.

Also: 14% drop in units sold, anime accounts for 23% of the market Market research firm GfK Japan revealed last week that the total Blu-ray Disc and DVD home video market for the first half (January-June) of 2017 had reduced in both sales volume and revenue compared to the same period in 2016. The market moved 17.23 million units in the time period, which is a 14% decrease from last year. The market earned 82.6 billion yen (about US$755 million), a 10% decrease from last year. The figures do not count purchases by rental stores. While sales of Blu-ray Disc units have gone down, they account for a higher proportion (51%) of the total. Since Blu-ray Discs have a higher average price, this change in proportion may account for some of the drop in sales volume. Sales of Japanese anime now account for 23% of the market, down from 24% last year. In addition, the anime home video market alone has seen at least a 10% decrease from last year. RIRIKO, rionos perform opening, ending theme songs as both artists' major debut The official website for the television anime of Abi Umeda's Children of the Whales (Kujira no Kora wa Sajō ni Utau) manga began streaming the first promotional video and two commercials for the anime on Wednesday. The videos reveal and preview the anime's opening and ending theme songs, and reveal its October 8 premiere. The first video previews the anime's ending theme song "Hashitairo" by rionos. The latter two videos preview the anime's opening theme song "Sono Mirai e" (To That Future) by singer-songwriter RIRIKO. The CD singles for both songs will ship on October 25. Both artists are making their major label debuts with these songs on Lantis. The anime will premiere on October 8 on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and on Netflix Japan. Manga creator Abi Umeda drafts story for OVAs shipping with Blu-ray boxes The official website for the television anime of Abi Umeda's Children of the Whales (Kujira no Kora wa Sajō ni Utau) manga announced the anime's Blu-ray and DVD box releases on Tuesday. There will be two boxes in each media format, and each box will have six television episodes and a new original video anime. Umeda personally drafted the story concepts for the original video anime bonuses. The boxes will ship on January 26 and March 23 of next year. Each box will also have an exclusive manga drawn by Umeda, a bonus CD, an exclusive booklet, audio commentary, and jacket covers with outer box, both illustrated by character designer Haruko Iizuka. The first box also has footage of the original dialogue recording, while the second box will have a music video for the theme song and its making-of video, clean opening and ending animation footage, and a collection of commercials and promotional videos. Anime's 2nd half debuts with new opening, ending theme songs next Saturday The official website for the Welcome to the Ballroom anime unveiled a new promotional video and visual for the anime's second half on Monday. The video previews the anime's new opening theme song "Invisibile Sensation" by Unison Square Garden. Aside from Unison Square Garden, Mikako Komatsu is also returning to perform the new ending theme song "Swing heart direction." The songs will debut in the anime's second half on September 23. "Invisible Sensation" will ship on CD on Novmeber 8, and the download version will debut on November 15. "Swing heart direction" and two other songs will debut on CD and via download on the same day, November 8. Unison Square Garden and Komatsu already perform the anime's first opening and ending theme songs, "10% roll, 10% romance" and "Maybe the next waltz," respectively. Joe line was a massive success. However, by the end of the 1970s, the costs of producing the over-sized figures were becoming cost-prohibitive, so the line was in trouble. Luckily, a rival toy company, Kenner, came up with a clever solution to the problem. In the late 1970s, Kenner obliterated the competition with the release of its line of Star Wars action figures to tie in with the then-new film. Overall home video sales see 10.6% decrease in 1st 6 months of 2017 The Japan Video Software Association (JVA) released a new sixth-month report Friday that includes the sales from the first half of the year from January to June. The total sales revenue for the home video market in Japan from January to June amounted to around 91,685,000,000 yen (about US$816 million), a 10.6% decrease over the same period from last year. The Blu-ray Disc market has seen a 6.6% decrease from last year in terms of sales and a 7.9% decrease in terms of units sold. The DVD market saw a 13.6% decrease in terms of sales, and a 13.8% decrease in terms of units sold. DVDs made up 55.4% of sales, while Blu-ray Discs made up 44.7% of sales. Commercial sales for individual use, which comprise a majority of the market, has seen a 10.5% decrease, and sales for rentals have fallen 11.8%.
